COVID-xix Tenant Relief Act (CTRA) and COVID-19 Rental Housing Recovery Act (Recovery Deed)

Effective August 31, 2022, the COVID-xix Tenant Relief Act ("CTRA") enacted temporary protections from eviction for residents unable to pay rent and other charges due on or after March 2022. CTRA's protections apply to hire due March one, 2022 to September 30, 2022.

The Recovery Act applies to rent and other payments due between October ane, 2022 and March 31, 2022. Information technology also enacted significant revisions to the unlawful detainer process for deportment based on non-payment of hire and other amounts due between March ane, 2022 and March 31, 2022. A key requirement is that the landlord apply for rental assistance prior to filing an unlawful detainer based on not-payment.
